RADAR TANK LEVEL SENSORS:

The radar level sensors are highly accurate, durable, and can operate in high temperatures and highly corrosive environments. They do not require any maintenance.

Non-contact radar level sensors send short microwave burst through the air downward toward the liquid surface and measure the time it takes for the burst to return. The travel time is converted into distance to surface. Subtracting this calculated distance from the height to the sensor above the tank bottom yields the liquid depth. This process is continuous, allowing the radar to monitor liquid levels as they rise or fall in real time. In order to minimize turbulence of the monitored surface, the measurements are averaged for a few seconds to provide smooth singular output.

To narrow the signal beam, radars use two essential types of antenna, steel horn or short Teflon rod (PTFE). These also increase signal strength and accuracy. Our radars have either 1-1/2” male NPT mounting thread or flange, as you select. Automated Sonix Corp. offers two type of radars, optimized for the task at hand:

• Sonix-R01 is for highly corrosive fluids and elevated temperatures. The antenna is Teflon rod.
• Sonix-R02 is best for hazardous environments and high temperatures. The antenna is stainless steel horn.

SONIX-R01:

Use on highly corrosive liquids.
Measuring range to 33 feet (10 meters), standard.
Optional range to 66 feet (20 meters).
Temperature range -40F to +257F (-40C to +125C).
Outputs: select either 4-20 mA, Hart, RS485, Modbus.
Accuracy +/- 0.2 inches (+/- 5 millimeters).
Connection to tank: 1-1/2” NPT male thread or flange.
Antenna is Teflon (PTFE), 1-1/2” diameter, 6” length.
Pressure inside tank -1 Bar to 3 Bar.
